道格拉斯·唐宁 has taught at 西雅图 Pacific University since 1983. 他曾就读于耶鲁大学, earning a BS degree with double majors in economics/ political science and astronomy/physics in 1979, and a PhD in economics in 1987. His dissertation was on "Teenage Employment: Personal Characteristics, 工作持续时间, and the Racial Unemployment Differential."
In addition to teaching economics and quantitative methods in SPU's School of Business, 政府, 和经济学, he teaches introductory astronomy in the 文学院 and 科学 and Globalization in the University Scholars program.
Dr. Downing has served as SPU faculty chair, SBGE undergraduate chair, SBGE study abroad coordinator, 也是 SBGE's study abroad trip to China.
